Teaching with the Heritage Collection at the Boekentoren

Ghent University Library supports and encourages the use of materials from the rich heritage collection of the Boekentoren for specific teaching activities. To this end, the library provides access to the Special Collections workspace.

Clear arrangements are made for each session, and the lecturer assumes responsibility for the items for the duration of the class. If the physical condition of the requested materials does not allow for intensive consultation, library staff will look for a suitable alternative. As in the Special Collections reading room, only pencil notes may be taken, and coats, bags and rucksacks must be left outside the room. Lockers are available in the library for this purpose.

Demand for this service is high, so advance booking is essential. Requests can be addressed to collection curator Hendrik Defoort.
